The Genesee/Finger Lakes Regional Planning Council (G/FLRPC) is pleased to announce the commencement of a Comprehensive Climate Action Plan for the nine-County Genesee-Finger Lakes Region, funded through a Climate Pollution Reduction Grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Building off the Priority Climate Action Plan, which was developed in early 2024 and focused on reducing greenhouse gas emissions in three sectors (Municipal Operations, Transportation, and Buildings), this Comprehensive Climate Action Plan will collaboratively define goals and strategies to reduce regional greenhouse gas emissions and climate pollution across all sectors.

The development of the climate action plans will help the region tackle damaging climate pollution while supporting the creation of good jobs and lowering energy costs for families; accelerate work to address environmental injustice and empower community-driven solutions in overburdened neighborhoods; and deliver cleaner air by reducing harmful air pollution in places where people live, work, play, and go to school.
